CC1160 Automatic Filling, Plugging & Capping Machine:

The original design concept for the CC1160 machine was as an automatic filling, plugging and capping machine for small containers, typically used in the laboratory, aromatherapy, pharmaceutical, cosmetic and diagnostic sectors.
However, due to the `Modular` design approach taken by Cap Coder, where modular work-heads are fitted around a large diameter starwheel the machine is now suitable for many different types of application including; superglue, hot fill wax, veterinary, household products, foodstuff and nail varnish, to mention a few.
It is often adapted to suit the customers requirements and specifications and may include additional modules to cater for faster filling, quicker capping or special features such as, ball droppers, turnover devices, brush insertion and automatic container feed.
In its basic format, the machine is PLC Controlled, with Human Machine Interface functionality, with a drive servo indexing unit. The unit is mounted below the normal working surface and can be programmed for different indexing speeds and/or different numbers of indexing stations, depending on the products, product fill and application.
The machine can easily handle products from 5ml up to 250ml, with cap sizes up to Ø80mm depending upon the production process required.
Cap Coders `Alphafill` peristaltic pump dispenser is the preferred filling machine, but other suitable filling machines can be supplied to suit the filling medium, and/or existing filling machines can be integrated into the control system.
It is normally supplied with either Cap Coders Single Mk VI Torque head screw-capping head or for higher production rates, Cap Coders Twin Swing MKVI Torque Head, but other options are available.
It is generally fitted with a small 2m conveyor for the infeed and outfeed of the products, with longer lengths available and if suitable it can be supplied to suit a customers existing slat conveyor.
The machine can be supplied suitable for use in Hazardous Environments, complete with the necessary documentation for use in a Zone 2, Atex Environment and even Zone 1, Atex Environment using an all pneumatic control and operating system. There are also options for Validation Documentation, including HATS & SATS, DSERA, GMP and GAMP.

CC560 Automatic Capping Machine:

The CC560 Starwheel based Capping Machine is Cap Coders biggest selling machine. It has developed over the years from a simple pneumatic online cap tightening machine, to a sophisticated, PLC controlled unit, that is still simple to use.
In its basic format, the capping machine is supplied with a drive servo indexing unit, mounted above the working area, allowing the machine to be easily installed onto customers conveyors with minimal disruption to the existing line set up. The indexing unit can be programmed for different indexing speeds and/or different numbers of indexing stations, depending on the products, product fill and application. This enables the machine to handle small containers from around 50ml capacity using a 16 pocket starwheel, to 5 litre containers using a 4 pocket starwheel.
More recently developed is Cap CodersAdjustable Starwheel , which can handle products in the range of Ø25mm to Ø80mm, thus minimising the number of change parts required. This is ideal for contract packers or customers with a varied range of products.
The machine is PLC controlled, using and Allen Bradley `Micrologix 1500` PLC, but alternative control systems can be offered.
Thanks to Cap Coders experience and expertise in capping, it has developed theCC720 MK VI Torque Head, which is ideal for use in the CC560 machine. The torque head is generally supplied with an electric motor, which can be controlled with Speed and Torque potentiometers to give the desired torque, accurately and consistently.
The torque head can be supplied in different formats to suit the customers design specifications and requirements, examples as follows:
Single head cap tightening, the most basic format, where pre-placed/pre-started caps are tightened to the required torque
Twin head cap tightening, similar to the above, but the starwheel is indexed two positions at a time, before the torque head act in unison to tighten caps two at a time for faster production rates
Single head automatic capping, where the caps are picked form a cap transfer system and automatically applied to the container
Rotary swing head automatic capping, similar to the above, but operates so that whilst one head is screwing a cap on, the other is picking a cap in preparation.
It is often adapted to suit the customers requirements and specifications which may include, trigger spray applications where the trigger needs to be tightened and oriented to the alignment of the container or supplied with all stainless steel frame-work, due to corrosive elements of the filling medium. The machine can also be interfaced with Cap Coders `Gentle Touch` coder for bottom/top coding.
A Vibratory Bowl feeder is normally used for presenting the caps to torque heads when automatically capping. As an alternative, particularly useful where several different cap sizes are required, Cap Coder can offer a Rotary Feed table to supply the caps.
The machine can be supplied suitable for use in Hazardous Environments, complete with the necessary documentation for use in a Zone 2, Atex Environment. There are also options for Validation Documentation, including HATS & SATS, DSERA, GMP and GAMP.

CC1170 Filling and Cap Tightening Machine:

The CC1170 machine is a semi-automatic, stand alone, filling and cap tightening machine, supplied with a rotary table for the automatic infeed of containers, typically for products from 10ml to 200ml capacity. It has been specifically designed to be self-contained and provided with lockable castors making it easily moveable between work areas to give greater flexibility to the user.
Initially developed for the pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries, it has proved very popular in other sectors, including diagnostic, complimentary medicines and contract packers.
One of the main objectives in the design of this machine is to provide a user friendly unit, which can be easily operated by one person, at a speed suitable for the operator.
The simple to use, PLC controlled machine is supplied with an infeed rotary table automatically feeding containers into the pockets of a starwheel, before being indexed to the working stations by an electro servo drive motor.
The first station is the filling position, where the containers are filled, generally using Cap Coders Alphafill, Peristaltic pump dispenser, interfaced to the control system. Alternative Filling machines can be offered, depending on the product being filled and customers preferences.
After filling, the starwheel continues indexing allowing the operator to pre-place/pre-start the caps to the containers before entering the capping station. There are program options that allow the machine to stop at intervals for the operator to apply the caps in a more relaxed manner. This is particularly useful for training purposes or if caps are difficult to locate onto the container.
At the capping position, one of Cap Coders CC720 MK VI -Tri-torque Heads, fitted with rubber-lined gripping jaws, is employed to descend, grip the cap and tighten it to the container. For round containers, a rubber-lined clamp assembly is employed to hold the container as the torque is applied.
After capping, the containers continue to index and are cammed from the starwheel into the outfeed collating area.
The machine can be supplied suitable for use in Hazardous Environments, complete with the necessary documentation for use in a Zone 2, Atex Environment.
There are also options for Validation Documentation, including HATS & SATS, DSERA, GMP and GAMP.

CC720 3 position `Pick and Place` Torque Head:

This Torque Head is used for most automatic capping processes. Using Cap Coders Unique gripping jaws system in conjunction with two cylinders connected in tandem, for the purpose of picking the cap up before applying it to the container.
The stroke length of each cylinder is selected to suit the cap height and the presentation device; keeping the cylinder strokes to a minimum allows higher production rates to be achieved.
In operation, the Torque head descends from its `Start` position, utilising the upper cylinder, with the jaws open to the `Mid` position, where the cap is presented. The jaws grip the cap and retract to the `Start` position to allow the presentation device to move away. The head then descends fully, using both upper and lower cylinders, to screw the cap on. When the desired torque is achieved, the jaws release the cap and the head fully retracts to the `Start` position.
The standard unit is supplied with an electric servo motor which allows independent control of Speed and Torque within accurate limits.
A pneumatic motor option allows for the torque head to be used in Zone 1, Hazardous Environments, and can be supplied with the necessary ATEX Certification.

CC720 Rotary Twin Torque Head:

This Torque Head is used to give faster speeds in the automatic capping process. Two standard torque heads are mounted either side of a rotary actuator. Using Cap Coders Unique gripping jaws system in conjunction with the actuator, the torque heads function, so that whilst one head is screwing a cap on, the other is picking a cap up, before rotating through 180° to repeat the process.
In operation, the Torque head descends from its upper position, one set of jaws gripping a previously picked cap, the other set open ready to pick a cap from the transfer device. The head then descends fully, the one set screwing the cap on and the other set closing around the next cap. When the desired torque is achieved, the jaws release the screwed on cap and the head fully retracts to the upper position. The twin heads then rotate 180° ready for the next application.
The standard twin unit is supplied with two electric servo motors with independent control of Speed and Torque within accurate limits.
2-Jaw or 3-Jaw versions of the Rotor assembly are available, depending on the application.

CC 1440 Bench Top Cap Tightening Machine:

The CC1440 Machine is one of the original Cap Coder developments to assist the `start up` companies, who needed to reduce the risks of RSR, but with a minimal cost implication. It was originally designed as an all pneumatic machine, (particularly useful in Hazardous Environments), for small shaped containers up to 5 Litre jerry-can type containers. It is supplied with one of Cap Coders CC720 MK V Torque heads, using rubber-lined change part gripping jaws, to give accurate and consistent torque values.
Over the years, due to Cap Coders ability to respond to customers` needs and requirements, it is now available in several different versions, namely;
Manual Infeed - PLC controlled and electro-pneumatically operated or pneumatically controlled and operated. For shaped containers up to 5 Litre containers, (not suitable for round containers).
Powered Infeed - PLC controlled and electro-pneumatically operated, or pneumatically controlled and operated. Suitable for small round and shaped containers, up to 1 Litre capacity containers. The machine can be supplied with an adaptor piece to convert the machine to Manual Infeed, as above to allow 5 Litre containers to be handled. Supplied with a single `Start` button as standard, with options for a two handed `Start` version.
Trigger spray Applications - either of the above two machines can be supplied with an `Orientation` style Torque head, to screw on trigger spray caps and turn the trigger section of the cap to the correct orientation of the container.
Press on Caps - For use to press home pre-placed caps. A simple press head unit replaces the torque head.
Un-tightening Application - With this variation, not only can caps be tightened, but unscrewed as well. Using a reversible motor, a simple switch will change the method of operation. Alternatively, it can be part of the operating sequence; this is particularly useful for laboratories where the filling media requires analysis. The machine unscrews the cap to allow the operator to remove the test sample, before putting it back into the machine for screwing the cap back on.
Different products are easily catered for using simple change parts, allowing changeovers to be carried out in less than 10 minutes.
